The Hollywood temptation in adapting material like Brierley’s life for the screen is to make a fairly standard inspirational movie about the power of the human spirit. Lion has all those things, but director Garth Davis, working with a screenplay by Luke Davies, pulls off something much better. Nicole Kidman was nominated for an Academy Award in the Best Actress category in 2002 for her performance as Satine in MOULIN ROUGE! Baz Luhrmann's sensual reinvention of the movie musical was nominated for eight Academy Awards including Best Picture.

Kidman and Urban tied the knot in a candlelit ceremony at St. Patrick's Estate in the beachside suburb of Manly in Sydney. The film had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on 10 September 2016. It served as the opening night film at the Zurich Film Festival on 22 September 2016.

"[They're] fantastic. I just talked to yesterday. A lot of people in that situation, it's not as fluid as it is for us," he said. " have come out to Australia a few times. It's great. We all get along very, very well." Lion is based on a true story that is both incredibly uplifting and heartbreaking. We believe that everyone deserves access to clear, factual information that helps them educate themselves on the issues of the day and the things that pique their curiosity.

"I love having my artistic path, and then my other passion is my family. That's probably all I need in my life," she said. Twenty years later Saroo is now a young man who moves to Melbourne to study hotel management. During a meal with some Indian friends at their home, he comes across jalebi, a delicacy he remembers from his childhood. Saroo reveals that he is not from Calcutta and that he has been lost for more than twenty years, and his friends suggest he use Google Earth to search for his hometown in India. Saroo commences his search, but over time disconnects from Lucy and his family, overwhelmed by the thought of emotions his family must have gone through when he was missing.

Wyatt agrees to play the lead role in a film version of the '60s sitcom bewitched to. From visionary director Robert Eggers comes THE NORTHMAN, an action-filled epic that follows a young Viking prince on his quest to save his mother and avenge his father’s murder. But as a film about what is a political issue (which its final “message” seems to indicate it thinks it is) it falls hopelessly short. But it is particularly notable in Lion because of the film’s ultimate posturing regarding the perilous situation for children in India. A film that is underpinned by the contrast between India’s urban and rural poverty and Australia’s affluence cannot help but be about the processes of capitalist modernity and urbanisation that underpin contemporary consumer culture. The opening sequences, with overhead shots of the Indian countryside contrasting with images of a train cutting into it, gesture towards the dialectical relationship between rural poverty and urban development.
It tells the story of how Saroo, at a young age, was separated from his older brother and mother in India, ending up thousands of miles away where he would eventually be adopted by a young Australian couple. Decades later, the 20-something Saroo would try to find his home using his memories along with Google Earth, beginning his second amazing journey to get back to his family. One of the more amazing true stories to come out of this year’s film festival circuit was that of Saroo Brierley, whose memoir A Long Way Home was adapted into the film Lion. Lion tells the real-life story of Saroo Brierley who was separated from his family in India at the age of 5, who then winds up being adopted by a family in Australia.
"He sees the show at the very end when it's a show, all edited together, and he's fresh eyes. He doesn't read any script, he really doesn't know what's going on on the set, he's got his own career that he's completely absorbed in." The pair took different approaches to celebrate their 15th wedding anniversary on Instagram. Kidman went in a flirty direction by sharing a photo of Urban licking her neck, while Urban posted a candid Christmas photo of the couple embracing. On Sunday night, it was announced that he and Dev Patel for his portrayal of Saroo Brierley were honoured with BAFTAs. Tuesday night's exclusive event was attended by the likes of P.E Nation founder Pip Edwards and beauty guru Zoë Foster Blake. Of course, a commercial, mainstream film like Lion is hardly going to undermine its own basis by critiquing global capitalism, and, as a romantic melodrama, it is very effective.
The couple welcomed daughter Faith Margaret on Dec. 28, 2010, in Nashville. Faith was born via surrogate, and the couple chose to keep the pregnancy private. Kidman and Urban enjoyed a low-key night on the town to celebrate their fourth wedding anniversary, sharing a romantic dinner at Nashville restaurant Flyte.
